Sharka was born in the Czech Republic. She studied at the Technical University of Liberec graduating in 1998 with a Bachelor of Fashion Design. She went on to study at the Janá?ek Academy of Music and Performing Arts, completing her Master of Arts Degree (theatre set and costume design) in 2002. In the same year, she arrived in Australia and commenced studies at the Queensland University of Technology, graduating in 2004 with a Master of Arts Degree (theatre studies).

Sharka’s Australian design credits include Stand Up Benny Straight (for Kooemba Jdarra Indigenous Performing Arts), The Wide Alley (for the 2007 Queensland Music Festival), Pinocchio (for the Ballet Theatre of Queensland), Anderson & Ipeta (for Canto Coro and Blackface Productions), Dada Cabaret (for the Clocked Out Duo), Zig Zag Street (for La Boite Theatre Company), Up the Road, Which Way and Beautiful Souls (for the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts), Tashi (for the Out of the Box Festival), Two Roads in Green Pasture Landscape (for Visy Theatre) and Penelope (for the Magdalena Festival). Most recently, Sharka was selected as a finalist in the 2009 Textile Art Festival Competition.
